Here we offer you a range of calculators to assist in your building project calculations

The calculators appear in a pop-up window in order for you to use them whilst browsing the catalogue.

Calculating the Floor Area of a Room

Use this calculator to work out the floor area of a room

If you're room is rectangular, then simply enter the width and depth of the room and the unit of measure, and the resulting floor area of the room will be calculated in several different units of measure, both metric and imperial, useful if you are meauring the room in one unit but for example the floor tiles you want are measured in a different unit.

If on the other hand your floor area is not a perfect rectangle try breaking the room down into rectangular sections and enter the dimensions for each section into the calculator below, adding each result together to give you the total floor area.

Calculating the Wall Area of a Room

Use this calculator to work out the wall area of a room

Enter the width and depth of the wall and the unit of measure, and the resulting area of the wall will be calculated in several different units of measure, both metric and imperial, useful if you are meauring the wall in one unit but for example the wall tiles you want are measured in a different unit.

If you wish to work out the area of more than one wall, or the wall area of an entire room, enter the dimensions for each wall into the calculator below, adding each result together to give you the total wall area of the room. Don't forget to subtract the area taken up by doors and windows etc... for example that will not need tiling for instance.

Tiling and Paving Calculators

Use this calculator to work out how many tiles or paving slabs (square or rectangular!) you will need for a project.

NOTE: Variables such as grouting width, cuts and spacers have been ignored in this calculation.

Calculating the Volumetric Dimensions of a Room

From time to time its necessary to calculate the volumetric size of a room, for example, when choosing an air conditioning unit or heaters for a room or office its important to to know the volumetric dimensions, or cubic capacity of a room.

A lot of rooms are not rectangular however, so the simplest way of calculating the volumetric dimension of this type of room, is to try and break the room down into 2 or 3 distinct blocks, and take the 3 dimensions for each block.

Insert the dimensions of the first block into the fields and CALCULATE - enter the result in the calculator at the top left of the screen.

Enter the second set of dimensions into the fields, hit CALCULATE and then add this to the previous number entered into the calculator.

When you have repeated this for all the blocks required, hit EQUALS and this will be the total cubic measurement of a room.
